Job Overview
Barnes Hydraulic Services, based in Badgingarra Western Australia, is seeking to employ a mature and responsible person who is interested in completing an apprenticeship in Certificate III Mobile Plant Technology
As an apprentice with Barnes Hydraulic Services, you will be working with experienced and qualified tradesmen and owner of the business, working on a range of heavy duty agricultural, mining, marine and civil equipment. This will be a 4-year contract incorporating the completion of a certified 3-year TAFE course Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.
You will be working full time, with regular overtime, and attend block release TAFE courses. You will be supplied with work uniforms and required PPE. External training on offer includes Forklift, confined space, working at heights and numerous other courses that are required for specific tasks.
Objectives of the role:
- Assisting qualified tradesmen within the workshop as well as onsite.
- Troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems on a wide range of mobile and fixed plant.
- Troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of pneumatic systems.
- Disassemble, repair, pressure testing and function testing a variety of hydraulic system components.
- General servicing and mechanical repairs to mobile and fixed plant.
- Assembly and installation of mechanical components.
- Metal Lathe and Milling work.
- Workshop housekeeping.
Key selection criteria:
We are searching for a motivated and enthusiastic candidate with a positive attitude who is genuinely interested in developing a career in the HD Mechanical trade.
Ideally you will have:
- Excellent punctuality
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbally in English
- Strong mathematical skills
- Good computer skills
- Hard working nature
- Ability to think outside of the box
- Keen to learn and quick to pick up new skills
- Able to commit to a 4-year contract
- Driver’s license is a must
- Be physically fit – position includes a variety of standing, walking, lifting throughout the day.
