The Shire of Chittering is a small but growing local government located on the fringe of the Perth Metropolitan area.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Technical Officer to join our Technical Services team. The Technical Services team oversees and services the Shire’s roads, parks, landscapes, reserves, infrastructures and fleet management. The Technical Officer will be involved in preparing plans and assisting with the coordination and supervision of technical projects along with various other duties. Working at the Shire of Chittering provides the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of activities and projects contributing a range of diverse skills, experience and capabilities
Skills and Qualifications
The Technical Services Team oversees and services the Shire’s roads, parks, landscapes, reserves, infrastructures and fleet management. The Team operates under the direction of the Executive Manager Technical Services.
The Technical Officer position both reports to and is overseen by the Executive Manager Technical Services.
Some of the key duties for the Technical Officer position are:
- Preparation of conceptual engineering for road, drainage and other civil infrastructure and landscaping plans for parks, gardens, waste and building services.
- Planning, coordination and supervision of Technical Services projects and services including budgeting, acquisition of funding, implementation, inspections and reporting.
- Preparation and review of Traffic Management Plans.
- Research and data collection and associated record keeping.
- Stakeholder liaison and communications.
Job Requirements
- Have the right to live and work in Australia
- Qualifications in civil engineering/Surveying (or equivalent)
- Have experience in a similar position.
- Have knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety.
- Positive and effective team member.
- Possess a current ‘C’ Class drivers licence
- Able to complete a pre-medical check confirming suitability for the position.
- Ability to provide a National Police Clearance.
