What will your typical day look like?

We are seeking suitably qualified applicants for the roles of Technical Assistant and Technical Officer. Positions available will cover the areas of Field Research Services, Crop Protection, Soil Science and Crop Nutrition, Crop Science and Grain Production.

These technical roles suit individuals with a passion for agriculture (no research experience is required) great interpersonal skills, and who enjoy working in a team. If you are comfortable working outdoors in the field or in a laboratory, using farm machinery or research/laboratory equipment, have the ability to solve problems, these roles may be ideal for you.

We have several positions available for fixed term and permanent filling. The positions available for immediate filling are listed below. There will be additional positions which will be available to be filled in the near future, these positions will be located at various regional locations.

Esperance – (Level 2)
Geraldton – (Level 1) & (Level 3)
Northam – (Level 1) & (Level 3)
Merredin – (Level 2) (x2)

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

In this role you will provide support across a range of technical areas depending upon your experience and technical knowledge, to Research Projects and Research Scientists in the areas of field and laboratory research. This will take place in the field, glasshouse and laboratory sites using established procedures using your knowledge and experience in agricultural practices, research techniques and methods. You will maintain and develop networks with staff across DPIRD and develop relationships with stakeholders, community and industry groups.

No previous experience is required for a Technical Assistant Level 1 role.
