About us
The Shire of Merredin is a local government area located in the Eastern Wheatbelt of Western Australia with a population of around 3,300 people.
Situated approximately 260 kilometres east of Perth, the Shire includes the towns of Burracoppin, Hines Hill, Merredin and Muntadgin. It is the regional hub for the surrounding communities, servicing a wider population of around 10,000 people. The Shire is positioning itself to live up to its tagline; ‘Innovating the Wheatbelt’.
The Shire is an area with high employment and extensive community involvement, that is well connected with around 2,250 vehicles travelling along Great Eastern Highway past the town each day. Merredin is also serviced daily by the Transwa Prospector Train, making it convenient to find by road and rail.

What we are offering
A competitive package of up to $104,500 will be offered, including a cash component between $73,071 – $78,513 plus up to 15% superannuation (including Shire co-contributions as per the Shire policy).

Who we are looking for:
As the Aquatic Coordinator, you will take ownership of coordinating the day-to-day management, programming and technical operations of the Merredin District Olympic Pool.
You will have the necessary management and leadership skills to support you to plan for the future, develop objectives and explore new directions for the Shire’s facility. And, of course, you will understand the importance of ensuring the safe operations of the facility and the need to maintain an attractive aquatic environment for the community.
Applicants should have a demonstrated track record of success working in the aquatics industry and have all the necessary accreditations to manage an aquatics facility. - Working Hours Note: Hours are subject to change and or negotiation. 1 November to 31 March – (26 weeks or 1716 hours average 66 hours per week) The employee shall work all hours that the swimming pool is open plus additional reasonable time for maintenance and cleaning. 1 April to 31 October (26 weeks or 260 hours average 10 hours per week)- Swimming pool is closed from 1 April to 31 October. During that period, the employee is only required to work 10 hours per week to check and maintain the pool and grounds.
